CWL-C Data Centre

PROJECT SCOPE

Burroughs, in collaboration with Burns & McDonnell, are delivering civil, structural, drainage and highway engineering services from master planning & test-fit to coordinated & detailed design for the development of a cutting edge 120MW capacity Data Centre facility within the wider Bro Tathan Economic Development zone. As part of this commission Burroughs are also modelling all underground services to realise a fully co-ordinated utility and infrastructure system, including interrogation and design assessments of the multi-phase development to ensure follow on works are compliant with the scheme objectives.

The extensive scope of work encompassed several critical aspects including a substantial 52,500m2 building, providing the necessary support for the data centre’s operations and critical equipment. Burroughs have undertaken the design of the composite structural steel frame superstructure as well as substructure systems for both the internal building and the external plant support systems.

A key aspect of the design development is the co-ordination of all enabling works and earthworks across the site, ensuring that virgin material use and cart away is minimised and that contamination treatment is incorporated within the wider site strategy.

Burroughs have also delivered additional services through trusted supply partners including landscaping design, BREEAM assessments, Fire Engineering & planning consultation services. Coordinating these critical design inputs into a SAB compliant scheme and encompassing SuDs based surface water management systems across the site to ensure regulatory sign-off.

The CWL-C Data Centre project reflects Burroughs’ expertise in managing complex, evolving and technologically advanced projects. Through coordination with Architectural, Ecological and specialist consultants within the wider design team we have been able to and deliver innovative solutions while prioritising sustainability, security, and cost-efficiency.
