Longbridges Nature Park

PROJECT SCOPE

Longbridges Nature Park is a nature reserve located in Oxford, with the River Thames running through the area. In an area of the park that is popularly used for bathing, the concrete wall that supported the riverbank began to fail and deteriorate over time, with sections of concrete breaking away and falling into the River Thames. This became a safety hazard for those bathers, so remedial works were required to make the area safe and usable again.

Burroughs was appointed by Oxford City Council in March 2024 to provide contract administration services to support this project. The project of repairing the embankment involved breaking out the deteriorated concrete, installing sheet piles to reinforce the riverbank, and restoring the area with topsoil and planting grass and other vegetation. The project was completed on time and within budget.
