Alistair Burroughs founds the business aiming to provide sound personal advice to clients in the fields of civil and structural engineering.


Alistair establishes a like-minded sister business in the Isle of Man (Burroughs Stewart Associates). With Isle of Man Government as a key client, we lead Nationally Significant projects over the next two decades, including IRIS (Integration and Recycling of the Island’s Sewage) and the Isle of Man Airport Runway project.


Alistair Burroughs Design Partnership Ltd is rebranded as Burroughs refreshing the feel of the company and the breadth of appeal to target clients and staff.


Burroughs secures a position on an aviation led framework for Welsh Government, the first such consultancy framework position paving the way for a decade of learning and numerous subsequent UK Public Sector Frameworks.


Liam O’Brien is appointed in the role of Finance Director marking the start of a long term strategic partnership helping to shape the direction of the business.


Piers Burroughs is appointed Managing Director of Burroughs providing visionary leadership, focussed on developing a staff and client centric organisation, a sustainably growing business and a UK orientated workflow.


Burroughs in our first Joint Venture Partnership (with COWI) support Griffiths to secure the civil engineering design role on £50m Southern Link Road Phase 4 dualling for Worcestershire County Council. It is a seminal moment and spring board for business growth.


Burroughs makes a significant investment in the digital Deltek Business Management system improving resourcing, contract management and electronic information utilisation.

2023 / 2024

Burroughs continues to drive sustainable growth and continual improvement in the business through inward investment, including the appointment of a Non-executive Board Director.
