Burroughs Receives 'Highly Commended' at CIHT Cymru Wales Awards 2024
29/11/2024
Burroughs is proud to announce that The Rehabilitation of Dolgarrog Pipe Bridge as an Active Travel Route has been recognised as Infrastructure Project Highly Commended 2024 at the CIHT Cymru Wales Awards. This accolade highlights the innovative and collaborative approach of the project team, consisting of Burroughs, Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, Conwy CBC, Envolve Infrastructure and JB Fabrications.
The project involved transforming the historic (c.1916) braced truss rail bridge from a structure nearing closure into a vital multi-purpose asset. Today, the bridge supports two essential water mains serving over 43,000 people while re-establishing active travel links between rural communities and their local railway station.
This project exemplifies how heritage conservation and sustainable development can work hand in hand, aligning with the principles of the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act (2015). It is a shining example of how collaborative efforts can deliver meaningful, lasting impact for both communities and infrastructure.
Piers Burroughs, Managing Director of Burroughs commented: “This recognition from the CIHT Cymru Wales Awards is a testament to the dedication and ingenuity of everyone involved in the Dolgarrog Pipe Bridge project. At Burroughs, we take immense pride in delivering infrastructure solutions that not only address immediate needs but also contribute to a sustainable future.
This project is a perfect example of how we can preserve our heritage while meeting modern-day challenges, ensuring communities are connected and supported. My heartfelt thanks go out to our project partners, Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water, Conwy CBC, and Envolve Infrastructure, for their collaboration and shared commitment to excellence.”
