Burroughs Successfully Delivers Cardiff Airport’s Next Generation Security Checkpoint

Burroughs is proud to announce the successful completion of Cardiff Airport’s Next Generation Security Checkpoint, a major project undertaken to meet the UK Department for Transport’s (DfT) mandate for nationwide security upgrades.

As Project Manager, Structural Engineer, Contract Administrator and NEC Supervisor, Burroughs oversaw the delivery of three key workstreams that transformed Cardiff Airport’s security infrastructure:

Workstream 1 – Asbestos removal, M&E removals, demolitions, and new infrastructure to enhance passenger circulation.

Workstream 2 – Security system upgrades, including new EDSCB C3 machines, automated tray return systems, and body scanners.

Workstream 3 – Heating, ventilation, electrical, CCTV, and fire detection upgrades, alongside the construction of modern security rooms.

From design development and procurement to stakeholder coordination and seamless project delivery, Burroughs ensured the efficient execution of this critical infrastructure project, which went live in December 2024.
