Burroughs were appointed as Civil and Structural Engineers and Project Managers for the expansion of Hampton Dene Primary School, Hereford. The local area has had an increase in pupil numbers, and the school is growing to meet these demands.  The site slopes, and is constrained by local housing, the highways network, and sports pitch facilities.

By utilising a steel frame solution, Burroughs were able to future proof the space and provide flexibility in terms of classroom layouts, as well as allowing for roof-mounted plant to minimise the footprint. Designing in 3D enabled co-ordination between the design teams and thorough clash detection prior to starting works on site. Our additional Project Management services steered the client through the design process and negotiation with statutory authorities.

Burroughs have been engaged from RIBA2 to RIBA6 to develop the concept, options, planning, and detailed design, working in a multidisciplinary team with close collaboration between the Client and Design Team. The scheme is due to start on site in the summer 2025 to work around constraints on operational periods.
