London Southend Runway Resurfacing

PROJECT SCOPE

Burroughs was appointed by London Southend Airport to undertake the design for the resurfacing of their existing runway.

LSA have gained a commercial contract to deliver services for Ryanair. Burroughs were responsible for designing a friction resistant runway capable of accommodating the design aircraft, a Boeing 737-800. A grooved Marshall Asphalt was designed.

Burroughs worked closely with LSA to deliver the pavements, runway geometry, airfield markings, AGL and civils designs. Working with ex-CAA inspector, Paul Fraser-Bennison, we assisted the Airport in successfully achieving compliance with CAP791 Procedures for Change documentation with the CAA.

Burroughs are proud to have played our part in the successful delivery of the project. A collaborative work ethic was essential. Lagan Specialists Contracting commendably managed a challenging programme to open the works on time.
