NMW Framework

PROJECT SCOPE

Burroughs are providing Civil and Structural Engineering services for National Museum Wales (NMW), as part of their sole-supplier framework supported by capital grant funding to undertake building works across all NMW sites in Wales.

Our engagement spans multiple assets under NMW ownership, encompassing sitewide infrastructure developments and essential maintenance works at prominent sites including National Museum Cardiff, St Fagans National Museum of History, Big Pit National Coal Museum, National Waterfront Museum, National Roman Legion Museum, National Wool Museum, National Slate Museum, National Collections Centre, and Turner House.

Burroughs has worked through all RIBA Stages, undertaking Civil and Structural design services under a designated Project Management team. We have supplemented NMW’s team with our own Project Management capabilities to ensure the successful delivery of capital schemes.

Key projects include a decarbonisation programme at St Fagans, incorporating Passivhaus refurbishment of the historic administration block adjacent to the Grade II listed main building, as well as feasibility studies for further PV installation to enhance the organisation’s low carbon agenda.

At the National Wool Museum, we have acted as Structural Engineer for refurbishment programmes and conducted condition and principal bridge inspections to maintain customer access safely.

Burroughs is currently collaborating with NMW and the wider design team to ensure the long-term viability of individual sites to provide free, inspirational community spaces while preserving their influence to promote an appreciation of Welsh history for generations to come.
