Burroughs has conducted extensive RAAC surveys, responding to the RAAC “crisis” affecting educational buildings in Wales and the Midlands. With safety concerns arising due to RAAC reaching the end of its lifespan, our proactive approach involved multiple site visits to identify potential RAAC issues and ensure the safety of occupants.
Our surveys began with a comprehensive desk study and map regression to ascertain the age of buildings and determine if they were constructed during the period when RAAC was widely used. We also reviewed available as-built drawings and records provided by schools to establish a solid knowledge base before proceeding with on-site surveys.
Led by experienced personnel trained to identify RAAC as per IStructE guidance, our team conducted thorough surveys while also adhering to school guidelines on visitor safety, including current DBS checks for all personnel. Utilising our expertise, we meticulously examined buildings, took measurements, and captured photographs to compile detailed reports summarising our survey findings and recommendations.
