The Severnside Energy Recovery Centre is a large multidisciplinary industrial and environmental project, valued at over £300M. Burroughs involvement has been Temporary Works Co-ordinator and Temporary Works Designer for the main process equipment.
The building houses a delivery hall, burner, super-heated boiler and turbine hall for a 2-line, 32 mega-watt energy from waste complex which takes black-bag waste from the south of England via a rail link and highway haulage routes.
We carry qualified in-house Temporary Works Co-ordinators and a Structural Team, capable of reviewing existing or designing new temporary works for all aspects of construction. Some specific aspects of this project include lifting of the 140 tonne boiler assembly using a tracked ‘superlift’ crane, following the associated design of a geotextile reinforced crane mat. Other key elements included the performance calculation of mobile cranes operating on the piled ground floor building slab.
