We are delighted to announce that Burroughs has been named Next Generation Employer of the Year at the Inspiring Women in Construction & Engineering Awards, hosted by Construction News and New Civil Engineer. This prestigious accolade recognises companies that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to fostering a positive and supportive environment for emerging talent.

The awards ceremony, held on 17 September at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London, brought together leading figures from across the construction and engineering industries to celebrate exceptional achievements. Representing Burroughs at the event were Piers Burroughs, Kelly Critchley, Lydia Morris, and Liam O’Brien, all proud to witness this significant moment in our company’s journey.

In the past year, Burroughs has taken a bold step by investing heavily in the entire team through a 12-month learning and development programme. This initiative is the largest of its kind in the company’s history, representing a substantial financial investment. The programme is designed to boost staff productivity and performance while reinforcing the foundations of the business through a series of performance and productivity workshops led by a highly respected coach.

In addition to these workshops, Burroughs has introduced leadership training for the Senior Management Team and a handpicked group of emerging leaders identified as future leaders both within the company and the wider industry. This effort has been met with enthusiastic participation and positive feedback, particularly from our early-career workforce, who have benefited greatly from the focus on professional growth and development.

Piers Burroughs, Managing Director, commented:
“Winning the Next Generation Employer of the Year award is a testament to our ongoing commitment to creating a working environment where everyone can thrive. Investing in our people is key to the long-term success of Burroughs, and we are proud of the positive impact this has had on our team, particularly those at the early stages of their careers.”

This recognition at the Inspiring Women in Construction & Engineering Awards highlights Burroughs’ commitment to empowering the next generation of industry talent through meaningful development opportunities, outreach initiatives, and career advancement schemes.
