BBC Llandaff SW Sewer

PROJECT SCOPE

As lead civil consultant for the requisition of foul and surface water sewers to enable the redevelopment of the recently closed BBC Studios in Llandaff, Burroughs developed a compatible solution the public infrastructure that harmonised with the proposals of the numerous site developers.

Burroughs undertook a lead role in designing public foul and stormwater drainage networks on behalf of Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water for a new housing development on the former BBC Llandaff site.

The scope encompassed the detailed design of a foul system spanning the entire site and a strategically located stormwater drainage network. The site was a hive of activity with various contractors and stakeholders all competing for the importance of their own requirements and constraints.

After delivery of the initial detailed design Burroughs were retained for contract management and construction support roles to assist in the management of change resulting from dynamic requirements of the developer.

This was a project that did not disappoint, with numerous live project changes, resulting in an expedited service to keep the project and associated dependencies on programme. The project completed successfully, to the satisfaction of all parties.

This project is an excellent example of Burroughs’ ability to navigate complex collaborations and respond dynamically to unforeseen challenges.
