Burroughs were engaged on this award winning Design & Build highway project by Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd on behalf of Welsh Government for the development of the Northern Access Road, St Athan. The project opens up the St Athan Aerospace Business Park (now vested as Bro Tathan) and promotes future investment in the area, such as the New Aston Martin Manufacturing Facility.
The project comprised two roundabout junctions, a four-way traffic controlled junction and NMU interface, 6 side road junctions and interfaces, footpath diversions and complex drainage and flood modelling, all to be achieved within very strict and limited timeframes. The Vale of Glamorgan Council were the Technical Approval Authority.
Burroughs led the design process and headed up the liaison with the wider design team and project stakeholders, working collaboratively with all parties.
We are very proud that this project won the Construction Excellence Wales Civils Project of the Year Award 2020 – a commendation to the whole team!
